Firefly Group is Glowing with the Addition of Three Summer Interns

Monday, June 18, 2012

The Palm City-based public relations and marketing firm, The Firefly Group, is buzzing with activity this summer. Three students are eagerly learning more about the public relations industry while interning at the award-winning firm, assisting with media and government relations, event management, community outreach and marketing support.

The interns, more informally known as "glowworms,” are gaining hands-on experience about the inner workings of a public relations firm while spearheading projects of their own. "We are always excited to provide our interns with real world, hands-on experience, the kind of skills you can’t learn in a classroom,” said Rob Ranieri, Chief Operating Officer at The Firefly Group.

This summer Firefly has three interns, all at different stages in their education.

Erik Schineis, currently in his senior year at the University of Florida, is earning college credit for his internship. On day one, Schineis was tapped to assist the firm with its grassroots efforts on Bob Crowder’s congressional campaign as well as other public outreach efforts.

Carley Moss, a junior at Florida Atlantic University majoring in Public Communications, is looking forward to learning more about community and media relations, and will be assisting with the local non-profit, Keep Martin Beautiful, and its educational and community outreach efforts promoting beautification and litter prevention.

The final addition to the Firefly intern staff this summer is Allison Klempert. Klempert is a spring graduate of the University of Florida and brings graphic design and advertising knowledge to the team. She will be collaborating on the production of the 2013 Florida Ranches Calendar, an award-winning publication Firefly has been involved with coordinating for eight years.

Ranieri described the firm’s internship program as "mutually beneficial.” "Our interns gain valuable insight about public relations, marketing and strategic planning, while bringing fresh, new ideas and perspectives to the table. It’s a learning experience for everyone, and we are proud to play a role in preparing them for future careers,” he said.

Allison Klempert, Erik Schineis, and Carley Moss are the newest interns to join the Palm City-based public relations and marketing firm, The Firefly Group.
